Savings on solar systems aren’t limited to federal tax credits. In addition to the 30% Federal Tax Credit, all Southern California residents are eligible for a solar rebate from their local electrical utility company.
The California Solar Initiative (CSI) offers cash back for the installation of solar to your business or home.
We work with each utility company in Los Angeles County, Orange County, and throughout Southern California. We will guide you through the rebate application process so that you will be eligible for the maximum rebate possible for your solar energy system, as well as fill out your solar rebate paperwork for you.
All local utility rebates are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, and are paid by check. So, if you are interested in going solar, but you find yourself hesitating, remember that the rebates are not going to get any higher; only lower.
The California Solar Initiative is tiered, and once certain benchmarks are met, the incentives decrease by 10-15%.
California Solar Initiative (CSI)
The California Solar Initiative (CSI) is overseen by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and provides incentives for solar system installations to customers of the state’s three investor-owned utilities (IOUs): Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), Southern California Edison (SCE) and San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E).
The CSI Program provides upfront incentives for solar systems installed on existing residential homes, as well as existing and new commercial, industrial, government, non-profit, and agricultural properties within the service territories of the IOUs.
The CSI Program has a budget of $2.167 billion over 10 years, and the goal is to reach 1,940 MW of installed solar capacity by the end of 2016. The goal includes 1,750 MW of capacity from the general market program, as well as 190 MW of capacity from the low-income programs.
